You did great on Pretty Woman the other night! :-)
And Sweet Music Man was really touching- I had forgotten that song, but I knew it in my childhood, my dad loved Kenny Rogers so I grew up on all of his songs. I didn't remember it being a sad song but it is different hearing it as an adult. Anyway, I enjoyed it!

If you get a hankering to do Tom Jones, you could always do the old standard "Delilah"... which I have known every word to, pretty much my entire life... "Why, Why, WHY, Delilah?" LOL

Hey Robert. I just added the shows at Señor Jalapeño to Karaoke Loop because of your blog. As a special "thanks", I gave you the title of "The Regular" for both shows. Be sure to check-in anytime you go so that someone doesn't steal the title from you...

Thanks,

Not sure how good I am either. ;) But that definitely sounds interesting... a bit difficult to get to after choir practice and before work, but it's definitely going to be on my list!

Not sure how good a singer you are, but at Shennaniganz free Karaoke contest pays $50 with only 10 entries. Look forward to seeing you Robert!

It's definitely an issue. 100+ songs is a pretty awesome selection for a band -- songs they can actually do well, at a performance-quality level. But even the smallest Karaoke selection (like the tiny list at Six Flags) has several hundred songs.

What happens, it seems, is that each Live Band Karaoke specializes in a particular style. The guys at The Bone are rockers. Original Rock Star Karaoke at The Loft leans more toward punk. Time Machine, which I haven't tried yet, has a strongly 80s-themed list that I can't wait to sing.

I guess it's like the difference between going to a concert and going to a record store. You can get anything you want at the record store, sure... but you go to a concert for a specific experience. So it's not so much a positive or a negative... it just *is*.

Thanks for the question, and thanks for the link to futurekaraoke.com. Hope I see you at one of your shows soon -- possibly at Shenaniganz in Rockwall, where I can indulge both my Karaoke *and* my DDR needs!

Hey, I think the live band karaoke is a great concept, but one drawback I have discovered is that the list of songs to sing is pretty limited, because it has to be a song the band knows. Anybody else see this as a negative to live band karaoke?
